Are Sanitarium Management accountable to anyone?

Has anyone seen our 'phantom' CEO or Senior Sanitarium Management lately? They have been contacted by many people recently regarding the unfair work practices at Sanitarium. None have responded to the Union, on site delegates or their Workers to any calls or written correspondence they have recieved lately. It would seem that they respond to positive feedback regarding the profitabilty of the company or how the company supports the general community. What about the workforce who deliver the company profits?..Have any of them got time to address our concerns and the fact that we are hurting at Sanitarium. We are the very community Sanitarium often talk about but ignore! We demand a fair go NOW!

We extend this open invitation for any member of our senior management to attend an open forum to address our concerns in the community. We also want to know why they refuse our rights to be represented by our union whilst at the same time management have engaged two highly paid Solicitors (Fisher, Cartwright Berriman) on retainer. Is this law firm simply profiting of workers misery? Sanitarium does have a Human Resources Dept that apparently doesn't deal with Human related issues!

Does the Seventh Day Adventist Church really support Sanitarium's policies that hurt our families? How about reducing our wages when we get hurt whilst working at Sanitarium? Doesn't sound very christian to us that Sanitarium profits off injured workers!

The Church however may not even be aware of what is happening to us but here is their chance to come out and support us. Are there members' of the Seventh Day Adventist Church http://adventist.org.au/ that are prepared to speak out against these unfair work practices? Does the SDA Church support the Howard Government's Workchoices Legislation? It would seem they do if you have a look at our sick leave conditions that have also been eroded away even when Sanitarium was under no obligation to do so, even under the current Legislation.

We are organising a Community Forum to address our concerns along with other IR issues at Sanitarium and the real role Sanitarium plays in OUR community. We invite anyone in the community to attend so send us your details at sanitariumworkers@gmail.com and we will announce the details soon.

Yarrr! Has anyone seen my gold?

All this from Australia's most trusted brand...if only the Mum's and Dad's of Australia were aware earlier. Perhaps now these workers and their families can gain some extra 'crust' from the brand they make. Get your campaign out into the stores where families buy their weeties...that will get management reconsidering their position. Maybe Coles and Wollies should hear your story.

I am all for fairer work place conditions for the workers. I personally dislike how Sanitarium boasts of how much they give to charities all around the world and how much they have to do with kiddies fun runs and community events etc. But yes, once in a while it would be nice to receive a resonable bonus. Where did the Harbour Bridge climb and the like bonus' go? As you can tell I am an employee at Sanitarium Cooranbong.

Another couple things Id like to say is while the union and its workplace reps and members and flat out fighting for our rights which is noble. Have they even stopped and asked the rest of the workers what they want? I want fairer entitlements etc, but I dont like not having a say and asked "Hey do you mind if we stir up the hornets nest because we are selfish and only think what we want?" Might sound harsh, but thats the way it is!

The other thing is, Sanitarium is owned by the SDA church but to attack the church and christians alike is offensive and wrong! Just because there are some managers or management that cut corners or run as they see fit, doesnt speak for the church. Whoever put this notice up is childish for misrepresenting the church.
...End rant...

The fact that most people are anonymous on this blog seems to me indicative that workers at Sanitarium are understandably either too frightened or intimidated to put their names to their comment. Whilst I understand the difficulty, the time has well and truly passed to keep hiding in the closet. Workers just want a FAIR GO!

Surely it is time to take a stand and come out with your heads held high..you have nothing to be ashamed of and it is your self worth, your dignity and respect that is also at stake here.

Also, where are all the brave management notably silent now but not so silent when they are ripping workers rights apart and playing with workers and their families livelihoods.

Finally, for those that may think this is some sort attack on the church the message is clear....They have two options one being that they support the appalling actions of Sanitarium hurting then profiting off injured workers or they don't. Surely any fair minded person of any faith should question their own church's position on these MORAL issues. You can't have it both ways..you either support the family unit and the very community we are all fighting for or you support the actions being taken against these workers..get off the fence, join this campaign and join the only organisation that is really fighting for YOUR RIGHTS..THE UNION

Has the SDA Church decided to respond yet?

Is there anyone in the church prepared to defend Sanitarium for profiting off injured workers?

Is there one Sanitarium Boss that's prepared to have their say without remaining anonymous as obviously many have already done?

Is there one that's prepared to defend the company's position on Industrial Relations or their Policies?

To the union..are there any plans to let Coles know what's going on. All I know is that Sanitarium jump very high whenever Coles is in town

The position of the Union is very clear and has been since February 2007 when the company were first contacted by the union after workers rang and raised their concerns to the union.

1.Negotiations with Sanitarium Management on a collective union agreement that deals with all employment conditions.

2. Review of all company policies that are hurting and disadvantage workers.

3. Occupational Health & Safety review.

To the union if Sanitarium goes bust and has to close, we where just wondering if you will have over 500 jobs there at the union for all of us???

As for Sanitarium, yes i am sure there are plenty of things that they do that we do not agree on, every company you come across if like that even the union.

It is sad the way things are turning out for both the empolees and the company its self.

Yes Sanitarium should have taken the time to listen to the staff.
Me personally have put in complaints and they have been ignored. Which is unfair i have the right to be heard.

secondly lets leave the church out of this they have done nothing wrong weather they support what is going on or not. It comes down to the fact that the certain people that are in management or leaders should not be there, they are abusing the privlliage of there positions, and that is not fair.

There has been a few jobs that has never been open for advertising why is that? Is that fair?

But there are 2 sides to every storey so Sanitarium we want to hear your side...

Stand up for this company show the staff your loyalty to the company.

Stop hiding behind the lawyers and tell us what is going on and why thats all we want is some answers.

Keeping everything so hush, hush is just not helping, no wonder everyone is gossiping about what they think is going on. Do the decent thing and give us some answers please!!!

Still not anyone from sanitarium management has come out of hiding. It enables me as a sanitarium employee one conclusion. where was the union years ago? I feel more secure now for the first time in 9 years. Thanks for your efforts in supporting us. I know personally that there are many silent workers enjoying the moment and the hope that the union now brings.
